Goring-by-Sea lies approximately 2.5 miles from Worthing town centre. It has a mixed pebble and sandy beach and is popular for a range of water sports including kitesurfing. There is a yacht club, a row of beach huts and a couple of beachfront cafés. The southwest of Goring contains part of the Goring Gap, a protected area of fields and woodland between Goring and Ferring. 

There are a few schools nearby to choose from including St Oscar Romero Catholic School which is a mixed secondary school. Goring Church of England Primary School is the main primary school for the area. In the town centre, there is a selection of local shops which serve the local community. There are also many cafés, restaurants and pubs for dining out.

The A259 runs east–west through Goring, connecting it to the centre of Worthing and Brighton to the east, and Littlehampton and Bognor Regis to the west. Goring is served by two railway stations, Goring-by-Sea in the west, and Durrington-on-Sea in the east.  Both stations connect Goring to Worthing, Brighton, Littlehampton, London and Southampton.

The majority of sales in Goring-By-Sea during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £458,665. Detached properties sold for an average of £582,360, with flats fetching £237,868.

Overall, sold prices in Goring-By-Sea over the last year were 3% up on the previous year and 17% up on the 2021 peak of £370,448.
